A Fabricated History, 2023
‘A Fabricated History’ explores the tenderness associated with objects - found, passed down, gifted, thrown out - and how each of these holds its own history. How when brought together a new narrative begins, one that lends to the environment they now sit within. The marriage of leaving a known place, and the entry into one unknown. This idea is one evident in the departure of a turbulent narrative, and the creation of one new - you can fabricate your history to a point but how far can you get from its roots? ‘A Fabricated History’ looks at the constant battle between rigour, obedience and stillness, and how these can be found in one body, a found object. How the objects that surround us have been touched by many hands before they reach us, how they have a history of their own.
